GILLY PINKHAM COUNSELLING

Parenting
Supporting parents through life’s challenges
Becoming a new parent was a shock. I adored my baby but I felt completely unprepared for the rollercoaster of emotions, the exhaustion, the loneliness.
Parenting can be one of the most rewarding, incredible experiences. And it can feel overwhelming. Many parents struggle with the emotional and practical challenges that come with raising children, and it’s easy to feel lost or disconnected to each other along the way. This is where counselling can help.
I specialise in working with parents, particularly mothers, who are navigating the complex realities of family life. Whether you’re dealing with birth trauma, coping with miscarriage, or wrestling with mum guilt, you don’t have to face these feelings alone. Together, we can figure out what’s happening beneath the surface.
Common challenges I can help with:
-
Postnatal depression – processing trauma and navigating your way through this really hard phase.
-
Finding your identity after having children – rediscovering who you are beyond being a parent.
-
Balancing your needs with your children’s – learning to prioritise self-care without guilt.
-
Relationships – working through disconnection or resentment with your partner, or fresh realisations about your own parents.
-
Work-life balance – easing the transition back to work and finding harmony between career and parenting.
Counselling gives you time and space to breathe. Simply protecting this time to focus on what you need can be such a relief. Together, we’ll work towards improving emotional wellbeing, and helping you feel more centred and balanced in your role as a parent.
